TrendSpry started as an attempt to connect artisan weaving communities and handicraft co-operatives with a wider online audience. That original mission still shapes what we publish today: we write about Indian ethnic fashion, handloom textiles, and handcrafted jewelry from the ground up, starting with the weave, the technique, or the region, rather than treating clothing as disposable content.

Most fashion content online falls into one of two categories: product marketing dressed up as advice, or generic listicles that could apply to any wardrobe anywhere. We try to do something different. Every guide on this site is meant to leave you with something you can actually use, whether that is a way to tell a genuine handloom saree from a powerloom imitation, a body-type-specific approach to choosing a lehenga, or a clear explanation of the difference between Kundan and Polki jewelry.

What we cover

Our coverage sits across five areas: sarees and handloom weaves, jewelry and accessories, style guides for ethnic wear, the culture and heritage behind Indian textile traditions, and practical buying guides. We think of these as connected rather than separate; understanding why a Banarasi saree costs what it does, for instance, makes you a better buyer, and understanding regional weaving traditions makes styling advice land differently.

Our approach to accuracy

We aim to keep historical and cultural claims general and well-established rather than invent precise dates, statistics, or stories we can't stand behind. Craft traditions, especially those transmitted primarily through practice rather than written record, deserve that care.
